Horticulture Council President Speaks in Saskatoon
Saskatchewan fruit growers are expecting to learn a lot from a presentation entitled “Apple Growing and Processing in Quebec.” The presenter is Steve Levasseur, who will discuss the trials and tribulations involved in operating 90 acres of orchards, three processing units for different types of ciders, and a home-brewed vinegar factory. The high quality cider vinegar is used by chefs and distributed in natural food stores.
Levasseur is also President of the Canadian Horticultural Council and he will provide insight into the workings of the council as well as the national fruit industry.
Levasseur is the opening keynote speaker for the Saskatchewan Fruit Growers Association annual meeting to be held January 15 and 16 in Saskatoon. The meeting is part of Crop Production Week at the Saskatoon Inn. The complete agenda for the two-day meeting is available at www.saskfruit.com and www.cropweek.com.
Levasseur speaks from 9:30 to 10:30 Friday morning and will be available for media interviews following his presentation.
The SFGA meeting also includes a number of presentations from successful fruit growing and processing operations within Saskatchewan.
